Donate to the Sea Change Fund
Virgin Voyages has teamed up with Virgin Unite – the independent non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group – to launch the Sea Change Fund, to help protect and restore mangrove forests across the Caribbean.
Mangrove forests not only help protect coastal communities against natural disasters, but also capture and store carbon dioxide from the earth’s atmosphere – up to ten times as well as forests on land. They also act as a natural habitat for hundreds of species of fish, birds and reptiles.
What will my donation do?
The Sea Change Fund will help support a programme of mangrove conservation work, focused on the Caribbean. Bringing together partners and experts in nature-based solutions to climate change, the Sea Change Fund will support work to help mangrove forest projects get off the ground. The Fund will contribute to efforts that ensure coastal communities across the Caribbean can depend on mangrove forests for protection, food and livelihoods.
Every $1 invested in mangrove restoration can generate as much as $15 in value for coastal communities in the Caribbean.
This is just the start of an exciting programme of work that will create an epic sea change in mangrove conservation across the region and act as a blueprint for other parts of the world.
