The B Team
Back to our workWhat is The B Team?
The B Team is a global collective of business and civil society leaders driving a better way of doing business for people and the planet.
Co-founded by Richard Branson and Jochen Zeitz in 2013 following a Virgin Unite-hosted series of workshops and incubation period, The B Team is guided by the belief that successful stewardship of business can, and must, exist alongside responsible stewardship of our communities and planet.
Today, The B Team advocates for economic systems change and new corporate norms: to protect our natural environment and secure a safe, sustainable and equitable future for all. The B Team also partners with Virgin Unite to support the 100% Human at Work initiative.
What does The B Team do?
Create bold space
The B Team advocates for a new leadership playbook that places humanity at the heart of business purpose. For this transformation to happen, The B Team plays its part to create space to explore new models of 21st-century business leadership.
Lead by example
B Team leaders pledge to “start at home,” focusing first on bettering the businesses and industries they represent and the communities in which they operate. Central to “leading by example” is the comfort to reflect, with candor, on their own struggles and setbacks.
Speak out
The B Team leverages its privilege to bring more voices and inclusion into the spotlight. B Team leaders amplify practices and policies that advance the wellbeing of people and our planet. They strive to uplift tomorrow’s leaders as vigorously as they catalyse change today.
Build partnerships
B Team leaders recognise that the change we need — the change that future generations deserve — extends beyond the companies, industries and communities they represent. The B Team collaborates with civil society, policymakers, experts, youth leaders, business executives and board rooms because systemic change is only possible through sustained, collective action.
Redefine success
There are no jobs on a dead planet. For business to succeed in the long term, we need to update our definition of success and “right the rules” of the global economy. Measurement must go beyond financial performance to include the wellbeing of people and the planet.
