Big Change

What is Big Change? 

Big Change is a charitable trust driven by the belief that all young people should be supported to thrive in times of constant change. It connects and supports organisations that create positive change for young people, building a community of changemakers, and raising money to accelerate impact of the best projects.  

Big Change recognises the complexity of social change and knows how to use its own strengths to work effectively with the best people in the sector. 

Founded in 2012 by a group of six friends including Holly and Sam Branson and Princess Beatrice, the trust is committed to finding and backing pioneers who lead early-stage projects that support young people. Virgin Unite covers all Big Change’s overheads so that 100% of donations go to the projects that it works on. 

What does Big Change do? 

Big Change works in three ways: 

Backing pioneers and projects 

Big Change’s pioneering leaders are delivering projects that show a new way is possible. Big Change offers early-stage support to enable them to create proof of concept, setting them up for growth and wider impact. 

Creating and uniting supporters 

Big Change believes that education is everyone’s business. It works to create a community of big changers, a group of values-aligned individuals and organisations that want to see a world where all young people are set up to thrive. 

Reimagining and transforming education 

Big Change wants to change the conversation about education and create a new and expanded purpose for the system. It works with diverse allies to generate insights and ideas that have the potential to transform education.
